D-phenylalanine (DPA) is not normally found in the body and cannot be converted to L-tyrosine, L-dopa, or norepinephrine. As a result, DPA is converted primarily to phenylethylamine (the potential mood elevator). DPA also appears to influence certain chemicals in the brain that relate to pain sensation.

I bought this product after scouring the web for purported nootropic supplements. I discovered it can elevate mood and increase certain neurotransmitters in the brain. I guess it is also beneficial for pain relief. All of the above were experienced, for approximately 2 hours I felt great and when I put my hand under hot water I noticed the pain didn't bother me that much. Unfortunately the negative side effects are rather unpleasant. After 2 hours I got a nagging headache and my blood pressure seems elevated, although this does make my arms look nice and vascular, but it is just a rather dirty after effect. I could only recommend taking one capsule after a strenuous day and not every day. At least it did what I expected.

I took DL-Phenylalanine for my migraines twice a day. It didn't do much for the pain, but as far as elevating my mood, I did notice a slight difference. Not much but a little enough to notice.
