After years of trying various herbal and chemical alternatives to try to get to sleep at a reasonable time, I have found a legitimate solution. Getting up at 4 AM is essential for my work and 3 Mg. of this really gets the job done in under a half hour . There are no noticeable side effects for myself, other than very vivid wild dreams, but since REM sleep is conducive to good sleep, I don't see it as a problem. I take it whenever my routine gets thrown, and it always works. I am sold on this.Gentle & Useful
I love this 3 mg. dose of melatonin. I don't have bad insomnia, but sometimes I go to bed earlier than usual in order to get up extra early for work, and melatonin helps me adjust to the new schedule. I've also used it for 3-hour jet lag, and it worked like a dream!my mom loves this stuff!!

In it's 3MG dose, I did not find that even two pills was sufficient to put me to sleep. However, if you have a severe serotonin imbalance, the use of Melatonin probably will not work anyhow. The use of Melatonin is frequently used for insomnia, although for me, it just kept me awake in this really bad state of non-sleep all night. It is absolutely best to speak with your doctor before dabbling with such a rememdy. There are severe warnings on the label that these should not be tampered with if you are taking other prescription medications, especially antidepressants like MAOI's. Take care of your brain chemistry. This a not a drug to be taken lightly. Although there is a lot of controversy on whetheror not they are addictive, I have found that they produce a psyhcological addiction. Many people who regularly take it find they cannot sleep without it. This is a major drawback in ever starting it.
