Borage oil, also known as starflower oil and borage seed oil, is derived from the seeds of the borage plant (Borago officinalis). It's a rich source of Gamma-Linolenic Acid (GLA), a member of the omega-6 essential fatty acid family.

Essential fatty acids are "essential" because the body needs them for proper formation and function of every cell in the body, but it cannot produce them on its own-they must be obtained through diet. Omega-6 essential fatty acid GLA can be obtained through dietary sources such as organ meats or certain seed oils including borage, primrose, black currant and hemp. Borage oil contains the highest percentage of GLA among the seed oils.

Highest in Omega 6 GLA and super for sports nutrition

I just recently starting taking this supplement, after switching from a hemp tonic that was high in GLA. Since I don't eat organ meats, it was a nutrient I wanted to add so as get the needed high Omega Fatty acids not found in my diet. I like this product somewhat better as it is plant based as well, but has a much higher concentration of Omega 6 in the soft gel derived from the borage plant than was in the tonic. It's a high quality and important supplement to insure you get what's needed for all the body cells, one that can't be produced by the body itself. Especially important for athletes like me and other people who have very high nutritional needs, especially needing the important essential Omega fatty acid family for muscle growth and maintenance, but can't tolerate the extra weight gain from increased calorie consumption. A SUPER supplement.
