Evening Primrose Oil is derived from plant sources and contains high amounts of Essential Fatty Acids, which the body cannot produce alone. These acids are converted by the body into GLA (Gamma Linolenic Acid), which is a building block for prostaglandins. Prostaglandins are hormones which help regulate the immune system and can only be produced when adequate Essential Fatty Acids are present. Prostaglandins serve as regulators of metabolism, cell growth and reproduction.
GLA is a critical nutrient necessary to prevent hardening of the arteries, heart disease, PMS, multiple sclerosis and high blood pressure. GLA aids in lowering cholesterol levels, helps regulate the production of the sex hormones, estrogen and testosterone, and is important in combating cirrhosis of the liver. Women suffering from breast cancer that is estrogen related should avoid or limit their intake of EPO.

Very effective

While it took some time to kick in, this product has helped my mood swings tremendously especially during PMS. Not only that but my skin looks and feels a lot healthier. Solgar always puts out a reliable product too and is widely available.
A Lifesaver

Evening Primrose Oil has been a true lifesaver for me. This particular high-dose 1300mg is super-effective. It's high in GLA and EFA, and with the higher dose you only have to remember to take one capsule a day!
I've taken it orally to combat eczema. My dematologist had me on steroids and cortizone shots. Once I discovered Evening Primrose I've never had to get those shots again. At the time, I didn't know it, but it also really helps smoothing out PMS and cramping. The Solgar brand is available almost everywhere, and is a good value for the money.
