Didn't work as expected

On the advice of a local health food vendor, I purchased Lobelia to help with a terrible earache I had. Several people recommended that I put a drop or two of Lobelia in the ear as this would help with the pain. What I noticed is that the inside of my ear became very dry but there was no relief from the pain. I do know that Lobelia has been used in asthma patients and also as an expectorant. It should be taken in very small doses (one glass of water to a couple of drops).
