Marshmallow Root

I was told that marshmallow root was good to take for coughs with sore throat. I tried it when I had a cold starting by taking as directed, 2 capsules 3 times a day. After the first 3 days I didn't notice any difference and the cough only got worse. The sore throat went away on the 4th day but that probably was due to taking Tylenol. I don't really think this was any good for me for clearing up phlegm or a cough with sore throat. When I told my doctor about it he said I shouldn't have used it since I am type 2 diabetic and he said marshmallow root lowers blood glucose in diabetics who take meds.

Great for Heartburn

I have suffered with heartburn for years. I have taken Nexium but wanted to try something natural instead of drugs. I tried marshmallow root and it works great for heartburn. It took almost a week or so before I noticed a big difference but it really does help. I am one that has heartburn daily but now that I am taking the marshmallow root it is about once a week or so. I believe the marshmallow root coats and actually helps to heal the stomach lining and the esophagus. I won't let myself run out of this stuff, it really works!!
