The raspberry contains a number of beneficial components including flavonoids, tannin and the minerals magnesium, iron, manganese and calcium. It has been used for women’s health in regulating menstrual cycles as well as for gastrointestinal disorders, cardiovascular health and respiratory problems. Raspberries have been used for centuries by women to help during pregnancy.
A 1941 study in Lancet confirmed that raspberry contained active substances that helped relax the uterus. During pregnancy, raspberry has been used to counteract morning sickness, prevent miscarriage, regulate contractions and relax the uterus during labor. Raspberry is a mild antidiarrheal and has also effectively reduced nausea and vomiting often associated with morning sickness. Other possible applications for raspberry still under investigation include its use in diabetes.
Mushroom powders, including Maitake, Shiitake and Reishi, are known for activating the immune system.
