Calming Herbby Christine
This brand of valerian root pills is very effective in managing stress, anxiety, and sleeplessness. An excellent over the counter, natural alternative to prescription drugs.

I'm actually surprised Valerian Root is still available as an OTC supplement given its potency. 400mg of Valerian Root actually has a stronger effect on me than 5mg of Valium. There's a definite calming effect involved. I've found it also helps prevent panic attacks if you're prone to that sort of thing. Highly recommended.
Was this Review Helpful? Yes No Smells awful - not as good as melatonin for meby Mari
I never saw any results from this, even after finishing the entire bottle. Melatonin worked so much better for me. Plus the Valerian smells so awful - it was really hard for me to take. It seemed I could still smell it for hours after taking it. It's worth the extra dollar or two to get melatonin.
Was this Review Helpful? Yes No PMS!by Crystal
I love Valerian root because it is a natural way to fight those once-a-month blues. The only side effect being that it knocks you out. So don't take it if you have to be somewhere. I take it, and voilà my cramps and bloating are gone. I also like taking it during times of stress when I have trouble sleeping. It helps my body relax so that I can fall asleep. Once you're pretty used to taking it every once in a while, it won't knock you out but just calm you down. I've been using it off and on for years. Now I take it once or twice a month and it just calms and relaxes me rather than knocks me out.
Was this Review Helpful? Yes No Not for everyoneby Sergey
While Valerian is commonly used as a sleep aid; it does not work for everybody. I have tried it a
few times and all the time I somehow wake up early.
Was this Review Helpful? Yes No Not the best formulationby Marissa Oppel, MS
I have found other Valerian formulations to be more effective than this one. In addition, Valerian seems to work better for my husband and myself when combined with other sedative herbs. The smell can be a little off-putting if you are not used to it.
Was this Review Helpful? Yes No Valerian Better for Cats Than Peopleby sheila franklin
I prefer not taking chemicals when natural products are available, so I experimented with Valerian, which has also been utilized for epilepsy and as a sedative. I have also read that it is similar to catnip in its effect on cats. I would hold out for the catnip. Not only does Valerian smell and taste nasty, it didn’t help either my stress levels or insomnia.
