Chromium Picolinate 500 mcg

Chromium picolinate is a combination of chromium with picolinic acid, a natural chelator that promotes absorption of certain minerals. Chromium's main function is to help insulin transport glucose from the blood into cells, for energy. It also plays a part in the metabolization of protein, fats and carbohydrates.

Studies suggest that chromium picolinate may be beneficial for weight loss, supporting loss of fat instead of lean muscle. Although studies are limited, one trial involving 122 healthy adults showed that those given 400 mcg of chromium picolinate daily for three months lost six pounds of body fat, compared to those given placebo¹. Others report suppressed appetite, and reduced carbohydrate cravings, with chromium picolinate supplementation.

Because it assists in the body with healthy insulin function, chromium picolinate may also play a part in overall cardiovascular health.

While chromium is not normally well-absorbed by the body, but chromium picolinate is a highly bioavailable form that's pure, natural and provides 500 mcg of elemental chromium per serving

Tolerance - dosage cycle
by Samantha

I have used Chromium Picolinate for a several years. It definately helps curb my cravings when I am focusing on healthier eating habits, but I build a tolerance to it quickly. So I usually start at 200mcg daily then after a couple weeks I end up needing 400 mcg then after that 600mcg daily. After a little over a month I stop taking it. I have gone as high as 1000mcg in the past but, I have found research that suggests that's not a good dosage level. I usually buy the 200mcg bottle (100ct) and when its empty I don't buy a new one for a few months. I haven't experienced any intense-cravings/withdrawl type symptoms when I stop using it or anything. Take after eating for sure, as you would any other supplement, or it will make you nauseous.

Killed My Appetite
by MC

I've been taking 200mcg a day (not a huge amount at all) and have had my appetite drop dramatically after a few days. Unfortunately, this wasn't what I was taking the chromium for. I read in numerous places that it was good for anxiety disorders. I haven't noticed any changes on that front (probably because of my low dose). I'm scared to raise the dose considering my appetite is sapped at this dose.

Extend our life?
by JZhu

I use this product as a supplement with my workouts, it is quite cheap and it has essential magnesium. The key to this product is that it promotes better blood circulation and better glucose uptake meaning, as I have seen, more energy when you eat foods. I also use this because it promotes lean muscle mass to replace fat and there have been suggestions that it can extend your life.

I use it for my diabetes
by trisha

I am a type 2 diabetic and my sugar levels were starting to slowly rise. My doctor wanted to increase my meds but I didn't want to go that route unless absolutely necessary. I told him I read in a health magazine that Chromium Picolinate was recommended as a supplement to be used with your regular prescription medicine. He was a little skeptical but said it wouldn't hurt me to try it. I'm so glad I did because after taking it for 3 months he did a fasting blood test and my levels were back within range that I didn't need to have my meds changed at all. I don't know if everyone will get similar results but you might want to check with your doctor if you are type 2 diabetic.

Easy to use
by dee

This product is easy to use but it doesn't help with appetite suppression. I did however, think that it helped with mood stabilization. SO a big no for weight loss but an A+ for Ease, price and mood pick me up!!
