When my daughter broke out with acne, our family doctor recommended zinc tablets to her. Our doctor told us that zinc is a great mineral which is essential for the maintenance and appearance of skin and nails. Zinc was easy to find at the local GNC store. My daughter took one tablet a day. It took about 3 to 4 weeks before any real results began to appear. But once they did appear, her skin improved noticeably. While the acne did not completely go away, it did soothe it out and some of the scars began to fade away. I feel that for young kids who are first starting to battle the affects of acne, this is a much better and safer way to go than prescription medications. Plus, it has so many other good benefits too - like its help in maintianing insulin.

Not a big fan of most GNC produced products (but love the store in general). The 100mg are too strong but these are just right at 30mgs. GNC has these competitively priced with few added ingredients. I only take these when a cold is coming on though, your standard multi-vitamin contains enough zinc for the daily dosage.
