Papaya is rich in an enzyme called papain (a protease which is useful in tenderizing meat) and other proteins. Its utility is in breaking down the tough meat fibers and it has been utilized for thousands of years in its native South America. It is included as a component in powdered meat tenderizers. Papaya enzyme is also marketed in tablet form to remedy digestive problems.

When living in Hawaii, I’d eat a papaya every morning, which along with guava was my favorite local fruit. Now on the mainland, papayas are few and far between, and they’re usually of terrible quality, which is why I’ve turned to papaya tabs. They’re cheap, loaded with antioxidants, and help your food settle in your stomach, though they won’t stop you from missing the real thing.

I read how Papaya was good for your digestion and bought this product. They tasted like candy, but that's all. After finishing the whole bottle I didn't notice any health benefits. So, I never bought it again, or recommended to anyone. There are far better products out there that will help with digestion.

This is an especially useful product if you are having upset stomach or digestive problems. I spent 20+ years in Africa and Papaya is a well-known remedy for stomach-related suffering.

These are very tasty. I took them as a digestive aid and I can't honestly say I thought they helped that much. I would suggest a digestive enzyme formula instead.
