Best Whey protein I have triedby Mari
Over the years I have tried several types of protein powders; soy, rice, whey and several brands of each. I have decided for my personal use to continue using Designer Whey protein powder, because it tastes great. I have tried the natural and the almond... both blend well w/frozen berries and fresh bananas, which is what I usually add when blending. I will continue to buy this product as long as it is on the market - some of the others I have tried have disappeared off the shelf, as have several of the health food stores where I purchased them.

Not bad at all! Flavors are great, mixing is fast and protein levels are excellent! Just need a low lactose formula (please!). Beside that, this is a good product to buy if you want a flavorful protein.
Was this Review Helpful? Yes No Excellent Wheyby Joy
I've used several brands of whey protein, most have added sweetners. Designer Whey was one of the few that has a natural flavor with no added sweetners. I didn't have any aftertaste and it's great by itself or with some fruit mixed in.

This is one of my favorite protein powders.
Was this Review Helpful? Yes No Taste So Good!!by Shah
This is the first whey protein I ever bought and it is one of the best. Usually protein powders don't taste that great but this one is the best I have ever tasted. Not only does it taste good but it works too. For the course that I took this product I gained a pound of muscle mass. I would recommend the chocolate flavor since it taste the best.
Was this Review Helpful? Yes No Whey is Great in Tasteby Michael Xiong
The one thing that I truly enjoy about Designer Whey Protein, above all other types of whey protein powder that I have tried, is that they simply taste great. Flavors that I especially like are strawberry and vanilla. In addition, mixing the protein powder with milk enhances the taste. The only flavor that I would advise people to stay away from is "Natural," since it has no artificial taste, thus leaving the horrendous taste of the protein powder itself in full potency. Besides taste, other qualities that are good about the protein is the ample grams of protein per scoop (18 grams), and the addition of L-glutamine, which also helps you build muscle faster.
I personally saw a significant amount of muscle growth when I took this protein supplement along with a fairly rigorous workout routine (about 3 hours of lifting everyday, plus 1 hour of running). Thus, overall, I highly recommend this brand of protein powder.
Was this Review Helpful? Yes No Better than your average wheyby Will
Designer Whey is definitely better tasting than your average whey protein, or at least the chocolate one is. Over the years, I've actually used it for a protein supplement because I don't normally get a lot of protein from my diet. When mixed properly, it tastes like a normal chocolate shake. Also, it is one of the least expensive proteins around!!
Was this Review Helpful? Yes No Great Productby Jerry Jacob
I have used Designer Whey protein in protein shakes I made after working out. Designer Whey is one of the best tasting proteins that I have used, and also I have felt great results come through the use of this protein.
Was this Review Helpful? Yes No Tasty stuffby ed
This may be one of the best tasting protein drinks on the market, it's not a chore to take it. The results it provides are also quite good. This protein does cost more than some of the others, but it is worth it.
Was this Review Helpful? Yes No Very goodby rui
Drinking whey protein is essential when working out, and trying to gain muscle mass. Designer is one of the cheapest out there, typically $28 for a 2 lb. and the taste is great. I say strawberry may be the best they have, mixed with some milk, ice and banana makes for a great drink.
Considering other brands out there, the price and taste of Designer makes it one of the best available.
Was this Review Helpful? Yes No Bad tasteby BA
I did not like this product. I had heard so much about whey protein and even more about how tasty this product in particular was. I don't know if my expectations were too high, but I did not like this at all. The taste was very superficial and gritty. It tastes chalky and milky at the same time. I found that I had to pound the entire thing down like it was a race in order to even finish it. Although I acknowledge the nutritional benefits, I do think that the experience should not be "struggled through". For me, there are other sources of protein that are far more enticing than this product.
Was this Review Helpful? Yes No A staple in my dietby Drew M
Anyone serious about keeping fit and perhaps putting on a little muscle needs to get big helpings of protein, and whey protein shakes are by far the most convenient way I have done that. I drink them before or after my workouts 2-4 days a week and it leaves me feeling absolutely fantastic and full of energy, and the muscle gain is very apparent. Some people have a problem with the taste, but mixed with skim milk I drink it down with pleasure.
Was this Review Helpful? Yes No The best protein out thereby CA
As I have tried virtually every kind of way to get more protein in my diet, designer whey is by FAR the most superior whey protein on the market. Most proteins out there are either loaded with sugar or don't mix easily. I mix Designer with a spoon or shaker!! That being said, it isn't the least expensive one out there, but there is a reason. #1 in my book.
Was this Review Helpful? Yes No Great tasting proteinby Jill
Designer Whey Protein was the first whey protein I tried, based on friends' recommendations. The protein, although a bit higher priced than other brands, has many flavors and tastes great. It also is very easy to mix, and does not become chunky like other brands when mixed with milk or water.
Was this Review Helpful? Yes No A bit pricey.by JH
I really believe that Designer Whey is one of the better proteins out there, taste and more importantly performance wise, but if you make protein shakes a part of your daily meal plan, and you should, this can get pricey. I have found another protein powder that I believe works just the same and you get more for your money. If my vitamin shop stopped carrying my current protein, I would definitely pick Designer Whey up until I could find a suitable replacement.
Was this Review Helpful? Yes No High cost for nameby Michelle
Designer Whey is making a name for itself out there in the bodybuilding community, but to be honest I think their standard price is slightly high. Saying that, if you can get the product on sale it is well worth it. I have tried the chocolate flavor and the taste is just great. It also mixes in smoothly without the grittiness that some protein shakes can have. There is not that much difference between this product and some of the cheaper priced generic brands, so keep an eye out for sale time.
Was this Review Helpful? Yes No Good, but a bit expensiveby Tony
If you're looking for a good whey protein, you can't go wrong with this one. 2 scoops with some skim milk will get you about 50 grams of protein. It tastes pretty good (my favorite is the vanilla), but compared to other wheys, it is a little more expensive. Good choice otherwise though!
Was this Review Helpful? Yes No Quality and Tasteby Jody
While on the pricey side, Designer Whey has many uses for the individual who watches their nutritional intake - I make shakes with it, and also add it to pancake mixes and baked goods to boost the protein content.
Was this Review Helpful? Yes No A good way to get extra proteinby Jennifer
I found that since I limit the amount of meat I eat, I was having a hard time getting enough protein without eating several eggwhites, which I tired of. This turned out to be a good way to get the protein I needed and is an affordable option. I like the chocolate flavor, too.
Was this Review Helpful? Yes No Yoohoo!by Serge Howard
This is the best protein I have tasted out there, but I usually had to use an extra scoop or two in order to get the amount of protein I wanted. So, if you're interested in a good tasting protein, here ya go, but otherwise there are other ones with more protein per scoop.
Was this Review Helpful? Yes No Lower Cost, but also lower qualityby Justin Panther
For someone who is not serious about gaining muscle mass, this supplement is just fine. However, for more serious weight lifters, I would suggest a different product. This product provides lower amounts of protein than others like it. At the same time, it costs a lot less as well. So, for those looking for small gains, or those just starting out, this product is great. As you progress in training though, you need to switch to another product.
Was this Review Helpful? Yes No Good choice for runnersby Angie
I enjoyed the taste in the designer whey-- especially the strawberry. I make it with CarbCountdown Milk and use crushed ice to make it a smoothie. I think it's one of the better whey products out there.
Was this Review Helpful? Yes No Other uses...by Brynn
I was very excited over the fun flavor options, but the shake itself turned out to be a bit of a let down. Eating high protein, low carb/sugar, it can often be hard to find good protein sources that do not have a lot of carbs and junk ingredients. I now use Designer Whey in my baking! Alot of low carb recipes will call for it because it provides lift to the baked good, as well as a little sweetener and flavor.
Was this Review Helpful? Yes No Designer Whey may not always be the wayby R. Todd Woodstock
This product is not one of my favorites. The amount of protein per serving seems limited in comparison to other whey proteins I have tried. The flavor is good, but I believe there are other proteins with just as good of taste and provide 20-30 grams of quality whey protein. Whey is the way, but not with this one.
Was this Review Helpful? Yes No Designer Wheyby startnout
This was the first supplement I ever had. It was o.k., nothing that special. I think they really need to improve the labeling b/c I have yet to see (anywhere) the amino profile. I once told a friend (who was a pt, worked at gnc and was sponsored by prolab) that I used designer and he grimaced and said something about the amino profile. We went to his car and he grabbed out a huge container of GNC brand protein and said to use it because it was much better.

Correction Joy - it is naturally and artificially flavored .
Was this Opinion Helpful? Yes No One of the worst...by Curtis Churico
Any protein that has artificial flavorings cannot be one of the best - point blank. One of the ingredients in this overrated product is ACESULFAME, a very dangerous chemical - read on.
Information on Aspartame and Other Chemical Sweeteners:
Acesulfame K
Acesulfame Potassium (K) was approved for use by the FDA as a safe artificial sweetener in July, l988. It is a derivative of acetoacetic acid. Unfortunately, several potential problems associated with the use of acesulfame have been raised. They are based largely on animal studies since testing on humans remains limited. The findings showed the following:
Acesulfame K stimulates insulin secretion in a dose dependent fashion thereby possibly aggravating reactive hypoglycemia ("low blood sugar attacks").
Acesulfame K apparently produced lung tumors, breast tumors, rare types of tumors of other organs (such as the thymus gland), several forms of leukemia and chronic respiratory disease in several rodent studies, even when less than maximum doses were given. According to the Center for Science in the Public Interest, it was petitioned on August 29, l988 for a stay of approval by the FDA because of "significant doubt" about its safety.
